Agree to Disagree
by wanderlustguy ini knew what i wrote and have written in the past would trigger a lot of different things in a lot of different people.
sometimes the hardest thing to accept is that what someone says is usually true, even if it's just for them.. as a person grows and learns, they draw conclusions about a great many things, from who god is to what kind of car is the best ever made.
it oversimplifies things, saying it like that, but at the same time, maybe it is perfect.

the way i understand "ad hominem" is attacking a person for something that has got nothing to do with the topic. for example, if someone makes a point against the death penalty and is attacked by "you're cheating at your wife, don't teach us about morals". even if that guy is "cheating at his wife", he may have made a valid point. an "argumentum ad hominem" is used to distract from the topic by focusing on a person.

hard to tell, as the nazis applied the term "bible students" not only to JWs, but also to adventists, bible students who didn't join the JW schism and other smaller groups/cults.

if you always agree to disagree before you even disagreed... many things that would have been worth hearing are left unsaid.

I have never forgotten the day two members called at our home.
by The res3ia Discovery inhaving just joined the site, this is my first post.
although i am not a member of the jehovah witnesses, in the past, two members called at our home, and a conversation started.
i have never forgotten that day, and so that is the reason for my visit.

actually i don't think they were members. only few of the baptised jehovah's witnesses are actual members of the association. at least where i live.
